Chaewon Lee (b. 2003 Seoul) is an artist based in Baltimore, originally from Seoul, Korea. She graduated from Maryland Institute College of Art in December 2024, majoring in BFA in painting. She had a solo exhibition in Baltimore in November 2024, “To Be Continued,” delving into themes of time and longing for eternity. She recently participated in a group exhibition at the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea, Washington D.C., “Summer Comes to My Hometown, Seoul.” Her work focuses on the finiteness of time and the resulting memories and anxiety about the future in dreamlike paintings. She uses flowers as a metaphor to unravel her anxiety about finite existence and longing for eternity. The narratives she draws using specific flowers create her own myth stories about her life, giving off a mysterious and surreal atmosphere.
